Project Details

The Californian Soil tour followed London Grammar's headline festival appearances, growing into a full touring production developed with the band. The show was created by Aries Moross and Rob Sinclair, working closely with London Grammar to carry the album's restrained intensity into a live setting.

I developed the visuals for Bones of Ribbon, which opened the encore. The sequence builds slowly in form and rhythm before resolving into a zoetrope, a rotating structure timed precisely to the track. The rotation locked to the lighting and laser choreography, so the visual, the lights and the music hit their crescendo together, marking the shift in energy as the encore began.

Design Insight

Bones of Ribbon opens minimal and atmospheric, a slow build that holds delicately until the bridge, where the zoetrope gradually enters and acts as a set of shifting windows, tearing through cloth and sequenced with lasers. It was the one moment the visuals fully opened up, timed to land with the track.
