F1 "Neeeum"

A large-scale outdoor projection at Federation Square in Melbourne, marking the opening of the 2019 Australian Grand Prix.
Project Details
Working with Wieden+Kennedy, I developed the live visuals for a large-scale projection across Federation Square in Melbourne, part of F1's 2019 season launch built around the new NEEEUM sonic identity. The brief was to capture the sensation of speed on an architectural surface, content that could respond to the scale and fractured geometry of the façade while carrying acceleration, precision and forward momentum.
I developed the visual direction and was heavily involved in the technical mapping of the multi-projector setup, defining how the content split and aligned across multiple outputs, communicating the requirements to production, and building the animation system around the projection constraints from the start.
The motion emphasised velocity through stretched forms, directional light sweeps and sharp transitions, translating the energy of an engine into visual rhythm across the site.

The challenge was to make a building feel fast. Federation Square's façade is all fractured, angular geometry, so the work used that surface as the canvas, stretched forms and light sweeps racing across the panels to turn architecture into acceleration. The creative and the technical were inseparable here: the animation only worked because it was built around how the projectors split and aligned across an irregular surface, speed and precision designed together.
