Through The Lens

A motion-led visual language for BRE, the century-old building science and infrastructure research organisation, translating its five business pillars into 3D.
Project Details
BRE is a century-old organisation at the forefront of building science and infrastructure research. As part of a wider rebrand that modernised the brand while preserving its visual equity, I was brought in to translate BRE's five business pillars, Knowledge, Innovation, Research, Assurance and Sustainability, into a motion-led visual language. The identity work was led by Chris Nuelle and Josh Harker of Nueker.
Each pillar was interpreted as an abstract glass form, developed in the brand's colour palette. The material was the point: glass for clarity, rigour and structural precision, the qualities central to BRE's work. Through controlled movement and refracted light, each form carried the distinct character of its pillar while staying cohesive within the wider system.
Alongside the animated sequences, I delivered print-ready stills derived from the same 3D work for brochures and supporting materials, so the language held across digital and print.

Concept
The brief was to give an established, research-led organisation a contemporary feel without losing its credibility. Glass did that: a material that reads as precise, clear and exacting, the same values BRE stands for. Five pillars, five forms, one coherent language built to live in motion.
