The full visual identity for Mutations Festival 2024, from logo and wordmark through to the campaign and live visuals. A rebrand built to carry the festival's independent, uncompromising spirit.
Project Details
Following the 2023 edition, I was invited back to lead the visual direction for Mutations 2024.
I designed the 2024 logo and wordmark, defining the core identity and leading the 3D and motion execution across launch content and campaign assets, working to a tight timeline that kept the system lean and flexible.
The direction pushed further into high impact motion, with the identity leaning into the festival's intensity through heavy noise, distortion and rapid pacing, and layered compositions that reflected the density of the live programme. Transitions mirrored the contrast between acts, while collage and cut-out textures echoed the independent ethos.

Concept
Mutations is multi-venue and eclectic, and the concept came from that: fractured, separate things drawn together into something new. Rubble, brick and abstract forms break apart, collide, and get pulled into orbit, re-connecting and mutating around a central point.
Having experienced the festival first hand, the identity could be shaped by a closer understanding of its atmosphere, audience and cultural tone.
The identity ran online and city-wide across Brighton, from out-of-home billboards and posters to street-level placements, and carried through the festival weekend on wristbands, lanyards, merchandise and venue installations.
